Every first Wednesday of the month, a delivery room tour combined with a parent information evening for expectant parents takes place at St. Marien Hospital in Ludwigshafen (Salzburger Straße 15). Parents get a tour of the Perinatal Center’s facilities—including the delivery room, postpartum ward, and neonatal intensive care unit—and receive detailed information about the final stages of pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and newborn care, including what to expect and special considerations during the first four weeks of life.
At the Level I Perinatal Center, the obstetrics and premature and neonatal medicine departments work closely together. The delivery room, the “Däumling” Premature Infant Intensive Care Unit, and the obstetrics ward are all located on the same floor, right next to each other. “Our goal is to provide optimal medical and holistic support during pregnancy, childbirth, and the early days of family life. We support parents and children in a pleasant atmosphere with individualized, personal care. We are committed to ensuring that mothers can give birth naturally, supported by a competent midwife, with medicine and technology taking a back seat. Thanks to the close collaboration between the team and the specialists in our Perinatal Center, mothers and children are in good hands with us, even in cases of high-risk pregnancies, threatened preterm birth, or complications during labor,” explains Dr. Thomas Reichel, Chief of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. “Becoming
